Man that is sweet. I wish I had more experience with Tig welding but guess I'll just stay with my Miller-185 mig and Lincoln AC-225 buzz box.

I had a PT 185, great machine. I wanted more and traded it in on a 250DX with internal cooler.

AW, I was so tempted to buy your old one BUT I went the same route as you. Got the PT185. Now I just need to finish my welding table and spring for a hand amptrol.
Nice!! now switch it over to DC and start welding

I love that Lincoln TIG, When the Lincoln Rep dropped it off in my old welding shop I test fit the cup holders with warm Timmies, and it passed.
The Pulse feature is great for thin sheet metal as well.

I cant say for sure that I "need" the hand control... Its not very often the I "could" use one... I always use my knee or elbow if need be.
As for the 185 its really nice... I bought a super short back cap and a whole mess of collets, collet bodies, alumina nozzles and tungstens. Ya never know what you can run into and having all the stuff is just peace of mind.

The pulse option is super aggresive, I'm setting mine on auto for now.
Jerod, what's the benefit of alumina nozzles? I'm pressuming they don't arc out on the work piece.
And which tungs are you using?
I've only got some 2% and pure but want to look into others.

The alumina nozzles are just my preference, that’s a brand name for some ceramic cups, and you assumed correctly. Ive been running the 2% for almost everything... I only run Pure when I do aluminum. Ive been reading up on other Tungsten’s as well.
