If I am wanting to build drop downs for a leaf spring mount using 3" square steele tube... where do I want the seam at in my final product? or does it not matter? should it be on the inside? outside? frontside or rear side? As I see it it should go to a side thats going to get extra support. Is that the right way to set it up?

why would I have to ask in newbie? doesnt this forum cover shop talk? is not working with steele a shop specific item? Sorry that I am not talking about the size of my garage or the tools in it. If it matters that much I will ask in the other forum.

i don't know or care where the thread belongs...

any way, in all honesty, i doubt it matters where the seam goes. i'd probably put it on the bottom or top where it would have a weld on both sides of it like this '[]' . if you are using rectangle tube, some times you can't find it with the seam where you want it which is why i don't think it really matters.

Right on! I agree whole heartedly to your response. Case in point, I’ve had that dilemma with the seam before and have put it on the top. Especially if most of the weight and force is concentrated on the bottom to up. But I guess it can be a toss of the dice. It would be better if you used round DOM if possible.
