D300 Speedo Cable/Gear for a YJ

'91 YJ with a d300 swapped in behind the ax-15. What do I need to hook the speedo up? Will just a regular speedo cable work (either off a CJ or a YJ)? Or something special and electronic?

Did A search and seemed to get varying answers. between a VSS and the stock cbale will work.

Any hints?
