: Ultimate Tour, Pirate Style Part VI

Okay gang, it's crunch time. Only 100 days to go until the kickoff of the ULTIMATE TOUR, Pirate Style!!!!!

For those unfamiliar with this concept, it's modeled somewhat after the Ultimate Tour that was in Petersens a few months back. Some folks here remarked that the most recent installment of the Ultimate Tour was a little tame. So, in Pirate fashion, we've designed a much more serious tour.

Now, because this tour is so ridiculously long, nobody really expects ANYONE to take the entire tour (though that would be cool as Hell). The idea is to jump in wherever you want & stay with it as long as you can or want to. For some, that might be just a single stop. Others might stick with it for 8-10 stops. It's up to each individual to decide how long they want to stay with it. Everyone get the picture? :)

Still looking for some trip leaders. Also, there've been some adjustments to the Schedule. Wrngrog suggested skipping Gilmer, TX. That could leave an open date somewhere around stop 5 and/or 6. Anyone wanting to hit multiple stops from 4-7 might make some suggestions on (gulp) non 4-wheeling stuff to do on the non-travel/non-wheeling days.

My stop - #7 - has been pared down to a single day. For those of you planning on hitting #7 & then going on to #8, we can leave it up to y'all what you want to do on June 23rd now. You could head to #8 early, stay in MO & I can arrange to get you on some very mild trails here. Or, I can just take y'all to the local wineries for a day. Give it some thoughts over the next few weeks.

Anyhow, here's the tentative schedule as of our most recent discussions. As you can see, we still need some trip leaders, or we may have to cancel some of these stops.

I am still in for Clayton. We have had some access issues of late, but there are still plenty of trails open in the area for our group.

I'm still in for leading the Attica stop, June 25th, stop #8.

My plan right now is to head down to Attica on the eve of June 21st, and wheel Sat the 22nd thru the 25th, then head back that evening or Wed morning. The date could easily be moved to the 24th or the 23rd as well. (and save me a vacation day or two....heh heh)

I am sure that there will be a group in Wellsville, OH the week of July 4 if any of those dates falls through in that time period.
Looks like it would be somewhat on the way if anyone was heading up from Va to Paragon. Just an idea if anyone was interested.

Hey this sounds pretty cool. Are any of the mags going to cover it? I don't know if I'll have a rig but I should be around the Black Hills area at that time. If anyone wants a spotter.......

Someone sent one of the earlier threads to one of the mags. They thought it sounded cool, but also that the budget to cover the whole friggin' thing would be too high. Bet they'd cover at least PART of it - especially if y'all can get some of their advertisers to show up & take part ;)

...I won't be driving until October 17th. Stupid error in judgement. So it'll have to be someone else, if you hit the Yukon. Maybe try for some of the Alaska boys...

Don't you think we should have a sign-up sheet or something for each location? So the trail leaders know how many people are coming.

Yup. At least a preliminary one at this point as I'm sure there'll be adds & drops between now & go-time. Let's start a new thread.

I can lead a Kaner/Shoestring/Funny Rocks run, but I haven't been to either of the other areas, so someone needs to step up and volunteer to lead. I know there are lots of people here that know those trails. If noone else volunteers to lead, the OR/WA portion will be pretty much a 1 day affair. Come AWN folks!.
