dumb question. the 10 bolts on the bottom of a dana 300 case that hold the cover on, what size are they? the take a 1/2" socket I know, but I need to get a few more and forgot to grab one to bring with me? they're about 1/2 long.
guessing its a 7/16 coarse thread bolt?
anyone know?
also, were can I find a new drain plug for it with the magnitic end?

I think they're 3/8's.

LOL, nothing major, I put on a clocking ring and clocked it flat. but I noticed that about 5 of the bolts holding that cover on, had been ground down to the point of barely able to get a socket on them and I wanted to replace them.
and the drain plug is almost stripped inside (allen key) and just enough meat to get it off.
3/8's? could be, does a 3/8's have a 1/2 hex head?

Ohhhhhh, you did clock it. :D You were talking about it at the Jambo.
What are your plans for the new cross member/skidplate ?
The bolts for the plate are either 5/16 or 3/8, I don't remember for sure.
Just buy a few of each size, they're cheap. :flipoff2:

Yup, used go2guys ring, had it whole thing done in about 3 hours including modifing the twinsticks.
for the xmember, still trying to figure out the mount, its the lowest part. prolly end up going with a block of hard rubber and bolting that to the new xmember. been thinking of the 1/4" flat belly skid plat on the bottom, but, those fawkers are heavy. so I may endup going another route.

According to the machinery's handbook, 1/2 across the flats is a 5/16 bolt

yup, 5/16 is right, but the drain plug is bigger that the 1/2.

i want to say that the filler plug is 1/2npt but it seems to me that the drain was only 3/8npt at least on my d300.

yeah, a 1/2 npt is actualy .825 across not like a 1/2" bolt

any where that sells plumbing, pipe or hydralics.
i was able to find some 1/2" sight glass plug for the fillers. no guessing on the level just wipe it off, see oil good, no oil add.

might want to try your local auto parts store, posably in the red package "help" section. that is is you want the magnet. i know i would. every time i have it out there is a small amount of metal stuck to the magnet.
