: Front track bar?

7 of us were out wheeling this weekend in snow and ice, the trail was unbroken, and the leader was pasting his truck HARD to break the trail, chained up and all.

Watching his front end hop and chatter, I was wondering if anyone has done anything to the front to keep things in check like the rear bar does?
is this a bad idea?

and yes....I tried the search.

No one?

Is this just unneccessary?

Yer talking about a front anti-wrap bar and yes, they have been done. I've seen them on minitrucks occasionally....all depends on how soft your springs are.

Chattering....up and down or rotational? up and down is a shock issue. I have seen some NASTY "chatter" on trucks not running shocks and getting it going in the sand and snow.

I run pretty soft springs and no front wrap bar and am usually the one "gettin it" in the deep crusty snow, but haven't had any wrap issues in front. Rear is another story, hence my wrap bar.

A guy named Joe Chacon used to have a writeup on how he put one on the front of his toyota pickup. Seemed to work good for him.

I've also noticed bouncing up front on my cruiser which seems to come from a combination of no wrap bar, the tires actually bouncing and then rebounding (sort of like when you bounce a basket ball), and soft settings on my RS9000s, oh yah and my springs are pretty soft.

little bro and i both run track bars...but i suspect that woody's got it pegged and what you're really asking about is a torque bar...track bars work on side to side motion. they do work great and reducing the tippy feeling of a soa at higher speeds though.

After watching a video of the proving grounds I was shocked to see how much my front axel wraped.

I know run traction bars on both front and rear. I have noticed better traction and less hopping.
