Just crossed 40,000 miles and the TREs are already shot. WTF? Anyone heard about them wearing out quickly in the 4x2s?

I had thought it was mostly a 3rd gen 4x4 thing, not really an issue on 4x2..... 18.5k miles on my 04.5 4x4, and no loose steering yet..

im at 40k right now on my 03, no steering issues yet except it seems to be a bit out of alignment.

edit: mine is 2wd also.

the alignment is what I first noticed, it started pulling hard to the right. then it got to where it started thumping around 70 MPH, especially when towing. I took it in to have it checked, thought maybe I had a tire out of balance, and they found the TREs shot.

Right now it is at the dealership. I'm going to fight them to pay for it all even though it's 4,000 miles out of warranty. They already told me they would pay for parts if I'd pay $80 labor.

gotcha.

i think my problem is more tire pressure than anything else, im pretty sure my front right has a small leak. it pulls to the right a bit.

if that doesnt fix it ill definitely get it checked out. good thing i bought from a 5 star dealer, 7/70k mi warranty should cover it if there's a problem.

is it just the right side thats worn out?

They are both worn out, but right side is worse than left. They just called me.

7/70 is only powertrain dude (my case 7/100 on CTD), 3/36 is everything else.

Chrysler picked up the tab too.
