Just got the new petersons in the mail. There is a killer write-up about a new trail in Moab called "the pickle". Anyone have pics, info, or directions?!?!?!?

That trail has been known for at least 2 years or so. There was a write-up about it in a mag way back as well. It's out by the airport somewhere, quite a drive from town, that's all I know. We were going to run it last year, but didn't have time.

Damn it! Its that old! Well crap. I should change the thread to 'What are all the new extreme trails in Moab that I haven't heard about so I don't have to look like an idiot asking about a 2 year old trail"

Would that work better :D

Anyways....who has all the details on new trails in Moab?!?!

The Pickle's featured in Rick Russell's Moab Extreme video. If you wanna know about it, get the video at 4x4now.com.

Proving grounds ??
is that a new one too??

:flipoff2:

hey best way to find hte pickle is come to town and buy a map (the "moab east/west" ones are bitchin')

have a local show you where on the map - basically there is a left turn off right before the airport (when heading out of town) you go on that to dubinky and levi well road..then you need the map to avoid "then turn left at the little dirt knoll, and right by toms house kinda shit."

it is about 40 minute drive time from town in a crawler (without a tow rig anyways)

Are there any spots on these two trails that you couldn't squeeze a full size through? How much worse are they than Upper Helldorado?

Proving Grounds is the hardest I have seen, but then again, I'm not a local. Kevin Hawkins showed us the trail, we were in a Toyota Pickup, fortunately we broke on the first obsticle. We walked the rest of the trail and soon realized that taking a toy pick up would not have been a good idea, we're talking major roof and side damage while not even rolling over.

A guy tried to run it with us last year in a full size Bronco. Luckily for him(but mostly us), he ran out of gas on the second obstacle.

So, is it doable in a full size? BD don't really bother me, although I'd at least like the doors to be able to work.
