Does any one know of an article/web page about swapping in a wagoneer dana 44 in the front of a TJ. I just pick one up today and need all the info that I can get?

What all information do you exactly need...not really hard, just buy some brackets (R.E), and if you need to re-gear and what not, go ahead and do it while its out of the vehicle...that way you can replace all the bearings and stuff like that. The only other thing I can think of is running brake lines and what not. When in doubt, take it to a pro.

It's more involved than you think, or at least that's how I felt. Get the rubicon express brackets. Use your axle as a template/guide. Plan on not driving it for a few weeks. If it's your daily driver don't even bother unless you already rebuilt the axle and have the brackets in place. Trust me getting your suspension right can suck when it's cold and dark.

It is not my daily driver, so taking it down for awhile is of no concern. I still have to build the axle - regear, locker etc.. I am not worried about the welding/brackets, I installed a 8.8 in the rear last year.

I put Chevy knuckles on mine and just welded tabs on. After that just build it.

I just did that swap last Summer- the biggest headache I had was grinding off the drivers spring perch. LOTS of grinding there. Other than that, not too bad. Remember though the CA brackets have got to be correct on three seperate measurements. angle in relation to the caster, angle in relation to the brackets on the frame and lateral position on the tube. Measure 10x and weld once. tack it all and then remeasure. I have the measurements written down somewhere. I'll get off my ass and do a writeup for you.
