Hello All...

Just putting my FJ80 axle back together for my SAS and I have new HighSteer arms from OTT. I put back on the original shims and my bearing preload is like 16-20 pounds (When checked with spring scale)..

I know for normal mini truck axles this figure should be around 10 pounds..

Any idea if I should aim for the same figure on the FJ80 or does anyone have the proper preload specs??

Preload specs for a 1991 FJ80 are 2.5-4.5 kg or 5.6-9.9 lbs. Looks like you are a bit too high.

My axle is off a '96 but I assume they are the same..

I figured it was a little too high... More shims have been ordered..
