OK, here's the skinny. I have a Dana44 that is going under the front of my Toyota. I need two steering arms (will be doing hi-steer), a tie rod, drag link, rod ends (no heims), and my pitman arm modified for whatever rod end I use.
I am totally confused as to what a good rod end to use is. Is there a really beefy, common TRE that dosen't cost a ton? Can I use the same four TRE's at the ends of the draglink and tie rod?
On the steering arms, I don't know if I need tall steering arms, or if I need steering arms with a bevel to them. I don't have a ton of lift, maybe four inches. Do you guys have any recomendations? I am totally open to suggestions.
I see that Rockstomper is selling a "complete steering kit" for $500, is this a little high in price or am I out of touch.
I have searched and know a lot about the different arms, tie rod, drag link, and such. Now I just need some advice on what a good combination is.
:)
thank you

I used ES150R and ES150L tie rod ends on mine. They are cheap, $15 each from http://www.stockcarproducts.com . They also use a common thread size, 3/4"-16 which means any machine shop can make you the tie rod and drag link, or you can buy the taps relatively cheap and make them yourself. They are smaller than the big GM TRE's, but they are bigger than most Jeep and Toyota TRE's.
You may or may not need the "tall" arms or spacers, every setup is different, if all depends on whether or not the tie rod will clear the top of the spring or not. It is hard to determine until you have the arms installed.
I woul definately go for the arms that are machined to counteract the steering axis inclination, so the tie rod ends don't have part of their travel taken up in the static postion. It is not as critical for the tie rod connection point as it is if the drag link is attached directly to the steering arm.
Here is a picture of my steering, ES150 TRE's, 1" spacer blocks, arm machined level. Yes the TRE's are close together but they do not bind.

Go to the Jeep section and search for D44 steering. There are soooooo many choices and solutions for each setup. Here is a pic of mine....

That's my problem, there's so many choices and I don't know where to start with this stuff. I think I want beveled steering arms and definitally Hy Steer (not inverted T), and TRE's (not heims).

Ben, how much for a pair of arms that are beveled, aren't tall, and have tapered holes for TRE's?
