I would love to try and make it to the Rubicon portion of the tour on August 1st and then travel the tour back up to B.C. and be home for the B.C. portion.

About stop #16: It looks doubtful that I can be counted on to lead, I'm getting married less than a month after that, so I may be financially impaired in the rig-readiness dept. I will certainly try to make it to do some wheeling, but don't want to let anyone down by committing to leading.

I know there are quite a few other MN wheelers who could step up here... :flipoff2:

not a good idea IMHO. first off the trail only takes an hour or so to do. plus if a lot of trucks are going to make it up to BC the trail will be totally packed. not to mention the trail is not too hard for a rig that is locked f/rr like all the guys that would eb coming up here. i think that we should take them over to vancouver island. somewhere like the Bitch trail comes to mind...

Mainly 'cause in the 4 months that we've been talkin' about this, nobody has jumped in & volunteered to lead a group in this area :(

We do have a few spots that don't have trip leaders, but they made it on the schedule because they were suggested right up front. I suspect there'd still be room to squeeze in Farmington if we had a definite trip leader & plenty of interest in folks hitting that spot.

If anyone is interested in a stop in Farmington/Aztec I can get any number of folks to lead, my club Rock Garden 4 Wheelers hosts visitors all the time. Let me know if there is any interest, it would only involve a slight detour between AZ and Moab, we're about 2 1/2 hrs. south of Moab.

Well, that sounds reasonable. For now, I've marked that down as stop #2B - just 'cause everyone has started to indicated which stop they're going to BY #, so I don't want to edit the #'s just yet. We can do that in Part IIX. I've marked you as the trip "leader", which isn't to say you actually have to physically LEAD on trail day. We'll just mark you as the coordinator for that stop. You'll need to assign a meeting place & time, and put any restrictions on the run that apply (limited # of vehicles, equipment requirements, etc.). And you can assign trail leader(s) for the day - be it you or whomever. If you're that close to Moab, I see no reason you couldn't squeeze in some Farmington action.

Tex,
Just a suggestion, but maybe the Farmington should be moved to where Gilmer was going to be? Come from Colorado to Farmington and then here to OK? Just a thought... might not be feasible. I think I'm gonna work with a couple of the fellas from Wagoner Machine to lead the runs at Disney, and get them involved in the rest as well... and then I'll coordinate everything.

Well, could we maybe make the competition your stop? That's kind of what we're doing with the Missouri stop - it's going to be a competition mud bog, mud drag, show n shine (don't laugh), and monster truck exhibition. So, not exactly your typical "trail ride" LOL. And actually, I was kind of hoping maybe one of these hard-core stops would coincide with a rock crawling competition. Little bit more variety in the "tour" that way, don't ya think?

Tex, let me know what you decide about Farmington, it would be great for folks to see our competition, its in its 4th year, and it draws folks from all over the country, even a lot of the big boys. If you decide you want to do it at another time, let me know, me or other club members are usually available. If you decide to just include day 2 of the competition, I'll supply explicit directions to find the area.

I might be up for meeting some folks at #15 Silver Lake, MI. I would also be up for #16, but being in the middle of the week is kind of a killer. I have never been to Silver Lake, but have wanted to, so this might be a cool reason.

So what exactly is this around the country wheeling thing anyway? Are there actually some folks that will be doing this whole tour? Or is it just getting as many folks as possible from this BBS together at different locations throughout the summer? What level of trails are you looking to experience? There really isn't too much real challenging stuff here in WI/MI/MN that I am aware of, but some of the land is real scenic. Where are you planning to run in MN? I believe there is a park opening up in northern MN in an old mining area if it is not already open. I have wheeled at McCaslin Mtn with Woody a number of times (Northeastern WI), and I have also wheeled at Dresser WI (with Midwest 4WD assoc.) which is the back side of a ski hill that has been developed with trails and obstacles, but not open to general public use. I believe a club in MN pretty much runs the place.

Not likely.

That's basically it :)

What level of trails are you looking to experience?

Anything & Everything. Some of the Southwest & Southeast stuff is gonna be really hardcore. Maybe some other spots as well. But, I think there'll be some stops along the way where newbies with mild rigs can have some fun. And that's how it should be IMO :)

Some of the Southwest & Southeast stuff is gonna be really hardcore. Maybe some other spots as well.

TEX

Don't forget Troy's Trail at the the Badlands is hardcore also, but the Badlands has plenty of trails for all levels too. Not ALL the hardcore trails are on the west coast, just most. :D

I am alittle confused. Is there a bunch of people rolling through all the stops? I am supposed to be the trip leader for the AZ stop. Who will be there? I am sure a bunch of us AZ guys will be there. But what about the out of staters?

I am wondering about the Pirate tour in South Dakota and Mn.
Who , What ,When , Where,Who?
I live in South eastern South Dakota right off I-29 and close to I-90.

I will be in the Black hills July 20th through the 28th with a couple other guys. We will be running as many trails as we can.
If anyone wants to join up and wheel in the Hills let me know.
(granted that the BH4 Wheelers club and forest service thinks its Ok to wheel due to the fires near deadwood last week)
