Sacramento’s Towe Automotive Museum is displaying the IH Scout in its ‘Calvalcade of Cars’ display for the month of May. The museum’s collection is an eclectic gathering based on Ford products but includes many makes and has the classics represented as well.
Matt and Camille Pietralunga are showing their screaming yellow right-hand drive 74 Scout II ‘Half Cab’. The engine is the 258 AMC and Chrysler 727 IH installed. Transfer case is a Dana 300.
Mike and Ada Hill have their Scout 800 in camoflage. It has the 304 V8 and is basically stock except for that paint!
Jeff Ismail’s pristine “trail” Scout II sets the standard for the show. The engine is a 392, transmission is the T19 wide ratio with a Dana 300 transfer case, 4:88 gears in the diffs and BFG 35” tires.
Sean Barber’s stock original Scout II Rallye shows the factory look.
Cary Riley’s major trail-modified 63 Scout 80 looks like it will leap out at you from behind the chain. The beast has a Buick 213 V8, SM420 Transmission, ‘Mr Scout Crawler Dana 20 tranfer case, 4:27 gears and 37” BFG tires. This truck won the rock pile competition and first place in class at the International Harvester Western Regional Gathering.
Doc Stewart’s 67 Blue pickup sets a counterpoint. It is a model 1000 with torsion bar suspension, the 304 V8 and three-speed column shift. The truck is mostly well maintained original.
Jeff Ismail of ‘IH Only North’ prepared Matt’s right-hand drive 74, Mikes cammo, Doc’s pickup and of course, his own beauty.
Sean Barber of ‘Anything Scout Restored the Rallye and built Cary’s 80 Trail beast.
All owners are Scouts West members.
The Towe Automotive Museum is located at 2200 Front Street, just south of Old Town in Sacramento, CA. Open 7 days with a small admission charge.
