Im looking to do a 8" lift kit on an xj. But before i do it, id like to hear how it works from people who run it on there rigs, to see if it's what i want to do, any help or advice would be great, thanks.

My advice: Become acquainted with the search button.

Hopefully the mods are recouperated since Tuesday and will clean up the front page. Consider this reported. :shaking:

the ride will be rough, but you must venture into the depths of the forum and "Go Advanced" (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/search.php?)

i have a skyjacker 8" kit on our xj and it rides like shit. if you must get an 8" kit get a FT or Clayton kit. skyjacker doesnt even use REAL long arms. theyre like the same length as their tj short arms. that and they use heims at both ends, making a very noisy and rough ride. their coils and shocks suck too. too stiff

Try Rustysoffroad.com. They make a great 8'' lift kit for XJ's. Plus they offer a long arm upgrade. With arms much longer than Skyjacker. Also there is no need for an axl cradle, or the subframe. Because the long arm kit bolts on at the tranny\ transfercase crossmember. Plus there are no noisey heim joints. They use jonni-joints.

Why not 6" and hack the fenders? :D

yes, i just installed rusty's 8" long arm kit and i should have gone with the same kit in 6.5" and hacked the fenders...further..but if i was to do the project over again i would get the kit from tntcustoms.com...they've got a full skidplate incorporated into the crossmember and a price thats just about the same..goodluck :clown2:
