I am looking for the output shaft housing to retro my VSS 241 to mech. speedo 241. apparently GM produced this setup in the late 80's. I need to either get the housing that contains the speedo gear or try to order it from GM. But to order it from GM I need a serial number of a vehicle that ran this as a stock setup.
Does anyone have a housing they can sell me or serial number they can email me to start my search?

You can only do this if you have the passenger output 241. The IFS 241's were left drop and had a different housing on the back. You need to have your local GM Dealership look it up for an 87-90 V model truck, this is the suburbans and blazers. It may be cheaper to locate a complete used tcase from a wrecking yard, the parts from GM will probably be expensive IF they are even still available. It's been almost sixteen years since those were last produced, and a relatively small number too..

I do have a passenger drop 241 from a 90 blazer. 87' is the start of the TBI truck so everytime I call GM they tell me this configuration does not exist. I am looking around at the wreckers but as you say it's been produced in reletively small numbers

Well I got a GM part number 1554-6617 ... but guess what, it's discontinued. Unless someone wants to sell one I guess I am using an aftermarket speedo
