i was just wondering what the deal was with the high angle drive shafts they are giving away?
are they still doing that?
Also a scout questionf ro you binder gods, where can I get high performance upgrades for a 304 I'm wanting to build? Is it worth building or should I look for a motor that will bolt up that isnt international, something lighter maybe?
wondering about a 360 maybe. Not in a big hurry to do any changes the 304 in it is running pretty good but I'm gonna build this motor while I wheel

any help greatly appreciated and I'll be voting for the scouts in TTC and cant wait for all the harassment

Only thing that will bolt up is another IH mill. A dodge 360 wont bolt up. IH used a different bolt pattern on their 727's than dodge or J**p's WITH 727'S. FAWKING NEWBIES!!!!!! :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Id suggest adding fuel injection to it if you can. I just may do that myself. Ive got an extra 304 stashed away & my friend took his Isky cam w/matching & #rd lifters out of his 392 & is selling to me cheap. Than just get the heads done real nice, some headers & maybe DynoMax mufflers this time around.

I don't think you can even build a 304. I've heard of a guy named Tom who supposedly has a "built" 304, but I don't really think he exists. Besides, It's just farm equipment. :D

*I* can't build a 304 out the ass.. but I know who can! :D

*MY* 304 is lighter than a 345/392.. and lighter than most 304s. :D

Downside is the 500cfm 2bbl won't flow enough to feed it past about 5200/5300rpm under load.

I've bought one of the GUS modified 4bbl intakes, but it was missing a valuable piece.. it's in my "pile" now..

Keeping my eyes open for another, or someday I'll get bored and try out my aluminum welding kit for my MIG..

Estimate 400lbs-ft, 350+hp.. but we'll see. S'posed to be a dyno at RMIHR this year so I'll have to go give it a run with my little 304.

10.25:1 CR.. doesn't like 85octane. Runs like no other 304 though.

Make sure you've paid off your gold-card first.. and don't be in a rush. :D

Rustoleum got to take it for a spin (didn't you?) at RMIHR last year..

Hardest part of letting new driver's give it a try is to convince them to USE ALL OF THE DAMN PEDAL.

Joel Brodsky had problems 2 years ago - kept stalling it out when he'd go to take off - the 500cfm 2bbl has a little lean spot just off idle.

Not a problem most of the time - I don't use idle.

He kept baubling it.. once I taught him to put it to the floor and keep it there..

So you only got the short ride around at NWBRU the year before.. bummer.

If you NWBinders folks would set up a play area.. I might come back this year and let you drive. :D

ANY of those rigs are fun to drive. I didn't find Hankins to be as peppy as I expected him to be - but then it was 4.09s and P78s, and a lot more Scout. I should ask JG what Hankins weighs in at.

Or mebbe I'm just spoiled. :D

I finally got to try Gryphin out last year. :D

I hope not. :) So we'll move on to lesson #2 - when the p/s pump squeals, you can't make it turn any sharper.

That's the second problem everyone has - they're used to slow Scout steering, not quick-ratio Little Devil steering. :D

Michelle's getting better about the throttle, too. I guess it doesn't help that every time she drives the rig I've changed something significant.

She just got the hang of the stock shifter, so I put in the ratchet shift.

She got a handle on how that worked, then I put in the manual valve body trans with the stall converter.. :D

Last 4x4 race she ran was in Billings in June last year.. and we were working on using all of the throttle. She would just get the motor to start coming up on the cam, then downshift up a hill..

Over the open exhaust she couldn't hear, "MORE GAS, MORE GAS" from the passenger seat. :D

Still.. she managed to pilot the truck to 1st place at RMIHR.. beating out Thebert's 392. :-)

Sometimes she doesn't look as fast, but she doesn't make nearly as many mistakes as I do - but I'm still having fun. :D

I guess I don't have any pictures of Jenni in Gryph.. though maybe I just didn't lift them from the video tape.

I should make some more MPEGs, too.. *sigh*
