Ok here is the thing. My girlfriend goes to school at San Jose state, and in her lab she has some dipshit that is telling her I build junkyard rigs and that multiple shocks arte a good thing. he has 16 SHOCKS!!!!! I was rolling when he said that. So my girlfriend is tearing into him and he says she knows nothing about acrs. She has a conniption right then and there. So she asks about what he knows. he don't know shit, other than the fact that multiploe shocks are a good thing. I tell him that the multiple shoclks will eliminate the point of the leafs in the rear, and the crappy IFS in the front.

Anyway, so to my question. What is the point of multiple shocks, and why should people not run them, other than they looks umber than shit? Come on guys, let me know here

High speed desert runs is the only time I think there needed.

If they are not valved for running multiple, they will "pack-up" when cycling fast and not let the suspension extend.
Tell him multiple shocks are for jump trucks, see if you can talk him into jumping it...take your camera !

are you trying to tell us you don't? :flipoff2:

one the front of my rig i am going to be running one 2" coilover shock and one 2: bypass shock.

the coilover is used to control compression and rebound and hold the spring.

the bypass shock is used for high speed desert running and i can adjust the compression and rebound at diffrent point in the travel

example of bypass settings:

on the first part of compression i will set it very soft so you don't really feel any diffrence but on the last half of travel i will have much stiffer compression settings to absorb big hits while hauling ass across the desert. while rock crawling you will not notice much diffrence because it is based mostly on piston speed.

anyhow yes just bolting on 16 ranchos to you mall pounder is :rainbow: and yes you build junk yard rigs. :flipoff2:

I put two 9012's per side in the front and one on each side in back.
The front has two shocks mainly because I just like the look:flipoff2: But it does make a difference for the times when I haul a$$.
But 16 aaaaa..... no.

two shocks mounted and valved the same as a single shock was will give twice the dampening and a very stiff ride. Two shocks mounted/and or valved so they dampen the same amount as a single shock will give twice the heat dissapation. I plan on doing the later because on any kind of high speed my rancho's faded VERY quick

Damn Camo, I take offense. Ido not build junkyard rigs, I build recycled jeeps . Seriously, I the multiple shocks thing is great for looks, but I don not think this guys wheels it. I am gonna ask my girlfriend for some pics of his rig wheeling. I doubt he has any.

Sounds to me like he's trying to get his "piston" some "compression" in your Girlfriend.

When I first built my EB, dual front shocks were the rage so I installed dual 9000's. I keep them set at 3 on the street and 1 on the trail. Just for fun- I removed one of the shocks for a trip and I didn't notice any change.

I'm sure I'll need longer shocks after the wristed arm is installed. I'll start with one 9012 and see how it works.

I started stacking them until thay stopped fadding. Maybe I should slow down. Sometimes I just need something faster than rockcrawling. so my rig is A all around rig. 10 shocks + 75 to 100 mph on dunes = no fade.

If he wanted to show my girlfriend the piston techinique he went about it wrong because she sure showed him up in class. What a lurp. I like 9012's because of the many adjustments I can get out of them, and will put them on the new rig, but otherwise, I have no need and see no poiont behind multiple shocks, unless you are doing dunes or Baja style driving. Just my .02
