I can get one of these for about $500. It works but has no bottle. I am curious if someone is using one or has some experience with them? Is it a good unit or a waste of cash? I see the price is alot more on this particular auction which leads me to beleive its is. Just want some info from people that have some knowledge.

if you got the room to store it and the 100 amp circuit to supply it, you could weld a lot with that.

I have had mine for 28 years and still going strong, also we have 2 at work that see constant use with no problems.
At $500 you can't go wrong, but get a water cooled torch and build your own cooler and you'll be set

I can't believe someone paid $2k for that. That is an older machine but solid. $500 would be a reasonable price for one.

of getting my personal shop setup. Compressor, welders, mill etc.. I was just wondering if this was a good unit. Thanks for the feedback.

Like others here have posted, IMHO it's worth $500-800. It's just a big, heavy machine. Bullit-proof for sure, but it would take up quite a bit of room in your garage and would be a bitch to move around.
If you are hunting around, look for a AC/DC machine in the 180-225amps range that has a water cooler for the torch. Inverter TIGs are usually DC only and can't do aluminum. Check out any industrial auctions or "Parts Trader" magazines in your area. Good luck.

To more specifically answer your question: it is a great unit for $500, get one.

Thanks, for the clarification. I just got to use a Miller AC/DC inverter machine. It has a very unique high-pitch scream on high freq AC. Seems to work pretty good, and the small size is makes it good for a small shop. Can you post pics, let us know the brand/price ??

dont have pics, but i got the miller dynasty 200dx for around 2600 full setup. got the diamond back kit and welder from cyberweld, and bought the foot control from ssccontrols.com on ebay.
