: Can you weld a Dana 44 Limt slip?

My Scout 44 rear has a track lock in it. Can I just weld the spiders like you would a open diff?

Yes. Weld the spiders together, and the side spiders to the case...

Dennis,

I got a better idea, how about I give you an open carrier that you can weld to your hearts content, and you give me the limited slip, I know it ain't a locker, but I got a good home for it...let me know, I'm always in St. Louis

What gear ratio are you running? I have now 3, count them, THREE open 44 carriers hanging out. :P

I would just weld the spider to each other dont weld them to the carrier. use 7018 rod weld one pass on one side then next pass on the other side.

ya dont weld to the carrier...just weld the piss outa the spider gears...it will hold, trust me.
