Shorty40 05-07-2005, 12:17 AM Hey guys :D
Finally took the new buggy out for a run :smokin:
However, I had a little accident
http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modules/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=36664&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=120 -- about 1/2 way down the page ;)
Looks like I may need some new mounts :shaking:

Tusker 05-07-2005, 06:44 AM Ouch! That's the first time I have seen one break at the long-side arm. Steep terrain with marbles and occassional good traction is a killer.
Nowhere 05-07-2005, 04:16 PM shouldagotabucket
:D
With the brakeage shown, would a bill forrest / rockrat t-case cradle have prevented this break? Possibly broken something else?
uglyzook 05-07-2005, 06:09 PM in the second pic why does it look like there is only 2 u blot on the right side or the axle???????
barathrum 05-07-2005, 06:45 PM in the second pic why does it look like there is only 2 u blot on the right side or the axle???????
i belive there are bolts there instead of a U-bolt. Shorty40 can correct me if i am worng. because the springs are inboard the diff housing gets in the way of a U-bolt. I have the same setup on my zook.
Shorty40 05-07-2005, 06:52 PM Yes there is only 1 u-bolt on the drivers side (passenger side in your side of the world :grinpimp: ) The pumpkin side has bolts that are attached to the perch that hold that side down. It was done this way, as barathrum states, as the springs are inboarded on the Hilux diffs so as to keep the mounts under the chassis :smokin:
Shorty40 05-07-2005, 06:57 PM Tusker : I am new to Zooks, but I would have thought that it broke on the short side  I dunno, I just know its not good :D
Nowhere : Not sure if a bucket would have prevented this carnage, but I will be putting in something a little stronger and see how it holds up :smokin:
Grumpy... 05-07-2005, 08:57 PM Looks like the exact same thing that has plagued me twice now. It is the long arm side. The only thing I have done to the short mount side is rip the mount from the frame. Hopefully it will not happen again.
uglyzook 05-07-2005, 10:51 PM ok i understand the u blot thing now
thanks
Pappa Smurf 05-07-2005, 11:17 PM Get a bucket and not worry about it anymore. Forest TT it does'nt matter they will save your t-case.
Shorty40 05-08-2005, 06:28 AM Yeah, a bucket would be sweet :smokin:
I am hoping the gears were not damaged - haven't had a chance to look at them yet

And on topic. What is the HP rating of the T-case? I have always thought it was around 175 HP?

A mate is helping me with the mounts. We don't have the selection of buckets you guys seem to have :(
