I am sick of my Craftsmen 2.5 ton deal and need a real jack. What are you guys using with good success? I didn't want to upgrade before because we were working on a dirt floor, but with the new shop things actually stay clean...

I bought a 3 ton unit at Costco for like 75 bucks the other day. Goes from 4" to 24" height, with a removable pad to allow for a 1" insert (for things like tranny cradles etc that i got from HF).

So far Im happy with it and it was cheap.

I really like the Harbor Freight 2.5 ton long-frame jacks. I have two of them. 31"+ lift height really comes in handy.

Dam we had this discussion last week. Scroll back a few pages and you'll find it. Got mine at a county tool sale from Summet . $80 never felt I went wrong. Check last week . Think there were several pictures posted.

I have heard lots of good things about these michelin jacks from sams club. I have used one a couple times and they are really nice.

Astro Pnuematic 20ton air/hydraulic with spring returns $94, we use them daily to work on semi's hauling 80Klbs+ daily with great longevity.

We also use 3ton magic lift floor jacks for working on 1/2-1ton trucks, vans, suv's, duallys...Work awesome, can change out the head for more extension, quick pump operation.

As stated in the above thread, I like my $57 michelin special from sam's club. I was there the other day and they're still selling them.

It's heavy(more of a warning than a plus...forget it if portability is what you need), has a ~3.5 ton max cap., ~27" max lift and i feel like it's pretty fast and smooth(compared to the other shitters in its price bracket). I've been using it since summer '03...no complaints. I keep it full of wally world $2 jack oil and have had no problems with it bleeding down or anything.
