SWEEEEEEEEEEET! :D Looks like it broke from axle wrap? :grinpimp: On my diff cover, I wrap a 1/4" flat bar over the diff to keep it from getting punched in the nose like that. Works great. I also use the cover that comes on a limited slip axle too. They are heavier. Cool Pics. :smokin:

Blacky, Looks like it has some beef. How thick is it?
Mocha, I make a piece that is long enough to go from the bottom all the way to the top. I weld one end down 1st and then with a little heat and hammer, wrap it up to the other end. If you do it like that, you can push boulders with it. :) I have hit ledges that has stopped me cold and it didn't even dent the cover.

Tried to change a temperature sending unit. Snapped it off. Drilled partway, cleaned up shavings, drilled a touch more and the bottom portion of the sending unit popped out, into the intake manifold (4-cyl). Pulled T-stat housing, no sign of the chunk (magnet, fingers, eyesight, etc). Pulled the two front freeze plugs, flushed with a hose, no sign of the chunk. :mad3: I'm hoping it'll turn up if I pull the water tube. I suppose I could let my water pump or radiator find it instead... :(

Now, if I'd been smart, I would have pulled the T-stat housing first, and then stuffed a rag underneath the sending unit before attempting extraction. I suffered the illusion that I could collapse it and extract it successfully, w/o dropping crap into the manifold. Sometimes I make things harder than necessary. :shaking:

Discovered and intersting fact..... Straight, un-cut antifreeze (regular old green ethylene-glycol stuff) is flamable.

It wasn't violently flamable and was easily extinguished, but would have never thought it'd ignite, but it did.

Moved a 8' x 12' shed from my folks place to mine

Transplanted some shrubs

started ripping apart my deck

played with the back-hoe

played with the dozer

generally made a mess.

I did tune up my newest Scout addition earlier last week, finally got it running pretty sweet when it popped through the carb on a test run around the block and all the crap in the carb and tank fouled the carb out. Pulled the carb and put it on the bench to rebuild and clean. The decided to check out the brakes since I knew they needed to be done... turn out there was NO material left on the front pads... o-well, needed new rotors anyway. Parts should be in this afternoon and I'll probably get to it Tuesday, maybe. Course the truck is sitting, sans front end parts, with a tarp over it, in my parking spot, infront of the garage... I'm just glad my wife loves me..... Not used to how LOW stock scouts are either…. Make them kind of easy to work on (the top), under side is another issue…..

Some day I might go wheeling again... if life ever calms down and I get some other projects done. But the back yard will looks SWEET soon when I get more fill and then grass it, and the "driveway" has been growing :D

I did give up racing this weekend to move the shed ... it NEEDED to be moved or it would be demolished... then I found out after I already started that the clearing has been postponed.... O-well, my buddy never got me the harnesses I need anyway....

I got almost nothing done. I swapped out my shackles for some heavier ones, and installed a diff guard that I got from Gen Nonsense.

I also yanked the gas tank from my parts Scout, and am going to have it cleaned/resealed as the first step on my road towards fuel injection. The bonus is that I won't even have to weld an extra bung onto it, because it's already got one more than the tank in my scout currently has. (Emissions, I suspect, I didn't even trace the line to see where it went, I just cut it off.)

Night wheeling is a lot of fun.

I went on a scavenger hunt for a Cherokee NP 242, swapped inputs from my chevy 241 to my dodge 241, changed the oil in my motorcycle and found pieces of metal in the drain pan, talked to a chick I have not seen in five years, not much else of any importance.

The 242 is for my DD ZJ. It is full time 4 and the viscous coupler is know to go bad and destroy things, and at 1000 a pop for a new one, it is just cheaper to swap in a 242 and lose the coupler, plus I gain 2wd, full time 4, part time 4, and 4 low. I just have to tear it down and swap inputs on that before it can go in. Oops, J##p tech in the IH board...

I swapped the rear driveshaft around so the tube end is up out of the way since I pretzeled it the last time out......

Finally have a poly tank installed that does not leak and I can fill it up like a normal truck without it puking on me.

I cut a gash in my arm that needed stitches.....but who has time when the scout needs working on. :D

Cleaned up a bunch of crap.....drained the OBA tank under the scout.....it was full of water....guess who needs to buy a drain for it. :flipoff2:

I am getting ready to start a business so I guess the Scout work and posting on here will stop for awhile....so good luck to you all until later.

I am going out on my own as an Attorney.

I have been with the DA's Office for 3+ years.

No job for me here anymore unless I want to wait on some Federal Meth Grant money that may not show up for several months. (Daddy's gotta have some stability.....)

Its time to march on. Need a Lawyer in Cookeville, TN or the surrounding area? Give me a call....well a PM if you want the Pirate discount. :D

Did you take your Scout???! :flipoff2:

:D

You know the answer to that. :flipoff2: I wore my D&C extreme flamming IH cap. and had the scout on my mind, but alas it will never leave the safety of its own back yard. The scout told me it's afraid to go out and play - it could get hurt.

Besides when I rewire it - I will be removing all the wussy circuits it has and make it strong and fearless. Then maybe it will go out and play. Sure hope the last carb change gets rid of the excessive gas in the crank case. that still has me a bit freaked out. 14 quarts of gas/oil mixture - sure would be purty (in a distance) when it goes boom.

going to try stalking mushrooms again this weekend. BUT we will take her truck so we can at least play a little. :D

Tried to buy the 14 bolt that matches my 60 up front. They guy said 300 bucks. I asked him if he knew I was talking about the 14 bolt.He that is was a "corporate" 14 bolt and 300 was a good deal. I tried to identify what he was smoking but it must have been good stuff. I laughed and drove away. But I guess he has the 14 bolt with the 4.56's so I'm the one that is hosed. So I'm gonna buy the 2 inch spacers and keep the Dana 70 and regear my 60 to 4.88. I'm driving it daily and love it I just need to get it 4wd ready so I don't have to remain a street queen.

You will spend more then $300 on spacers and stuff to rear gear the 60. Through a normal salvage yard $300 is a pretty normal price for a complete rear axle.

I got a bunch of wiring stuff delivered, started the tube work on the front...no real progress though ~ We've had a foster kid with us for the last 2 weekends, she's gone now, but those 2.5 year olds can't be in the shop longer than it takes to walk out, otherwise they start getting into stuff.
