so i'm gonna need some help on this one.

i killed my SOHC motor last week and I bought a 1995 240sx DOHC motor with 2000 miles on it.

i'm planning on swaping in the cams from a 91 sx since they have longer duration. i'm pretty sure that i'll need to do a custom wiring harness and some kind of starter mods.

Should i just go with some kind of SDS computer or attempt this with all nissan parts. the SOHC motor comes out next week.

any advise? tips? cross-over info on clutch/flywheel mods?

I found some info on clutch specs:

stock 94 truck clutch: 240mm diameter
stock 95 240sx clutch: 225 mm diameter

from the calmini site:
1986.5-97 Hardbody 4 CYL NPCF279582 centerforce clutch

the same part number for all ka24e motors, but different for ka24de

truck flywheel is heavier to begin with and therefore beneficial in added enertia

assuming the bellhousing is the same I say bolt up the DOHC motor with the SOHC flywheel and clutch and go to town. Assuming all the sensors fit try to stick with stock computer junk, see what happens.

i'm pretty sure that the sohc tach in my truck wont read the dohc signal at all. this leads me to believe that the sohc computer will not recognize the same sensor. also, the maf on the truck sohc is in the trottle body assembly and the 240sx always had the maf seperate, next to the airbox. different signal as well. i'm pretty sure that the sohc truck ecm will not work with this motor.

bellhousing and flywheel attachments should all be fine. but the starter on sohc trucks is similar to the sohc and dohc 89-94 240sx. the 95-98 240sx starter is different and i believe that they do not interchange.

the dohc engine should use a similar camshaft position sensor as the sohc (should be in the bottom of the distributor). They dont read the pulses from the ignition if thats whats worrying you (8 plugs vs 4).

I dont see why it wouldn't work. bolt it up and see what it does.
