I'm puting something together for CalRocs and I'm trying to decide how wide to make it outside of tire to outside of tire.
How wide are the gates in CalRocs?
If I leave the 60's I have at full width with the wheels and tires i have it'll be about 85". There's no way in hell I'm gonna be in the stock modified class so I'm not too worried about the 80" rule but I don't want to have to squeeze through the gates either.
So what width seems to work the best for competiton?
it might just be easer to answer what size tits are best. :flipoff2:
it's a personal prefrence

Yeah I guess "whats the best?" is a stupid fawkin question!
What I want to know is: if you compete, how wide is your sh!t and do you like it?
And how wide are the gates?

I don't know anything about the gate at calrocks,however, for a trail only rig I like the widest axles I can find for better stability.
as for tits bigger== better..

Tits can easily be too big, just like axles can be too wide, but then again, I don't compete....:p

I think a 60-62" axle with an 8" wheel, as narrow a body as you can make with side by side seats. Front and rear steering would be nice, or at least cutting brakes. Also keeping it as low as possible with a tucked and smooth belly. The lower the cg the less you will need wide axles to provide stability.

OK. Let me get a little more specific. The wheelbase is 100", no rear steer but yes cutting brakes and a twin stick 205. I have a ford 60 front that's 70" wms-wms, Dodge 16" wheels with Rockstomper beadlocks, and 13-38-16 TSL's and this combination is 82" wide. It's time to start working on the suspension links and if I'm gonna narrow the front now is the time to do it!
So again, How far apart are the cones? Is 82" gonna be fine or should I think about going for around 80" or less?

I don't think there is a set width between cones. Try sending Big Rich a PM or go to www.calrocs.com
