: D300 cable shifting 'effort'

I know a few of you guys are running D300's with the Atlas cable shifters retro-fitted. I'm wondering what kind of shifting 'effort' it's taking since things can be a little tough with the stock mechanical linkage.

is that just bench testing, or is it in your Jeep?

I set up my 205 with cable shifting, it shifted sweet on the bench, but can be a PITA when in a bind

thats in the jeep doing some yard wheeling. never had it on the trail yet as its not done. works easily shifting into all ranges. a couple times when i had the klune in low I had to rock it a little but i think thats becasue of the automatic loading up the drivetrain. really really happy with it. :)

I just got my shifters mounted in the truck a couple days ago. It hasn't moved yet, but so far, yeah, it definitely shifts easier. I can actually shift both axles from Hi to Low sitting still. I had to be able to roll a little bit with the old twin stick.

It's a bit early to say without wheeling it yet, but it does seem easier to pop the shifters to get it in and out of gear. I think it's because the old, long twin sticks had a lot more flex than the cable shifter sticks do.

Thanks. Hoping to get started on mine within the next couple of weeks. Going 'home-brew' with some beefier push/pull cables I got off Ebay. Probably just get some levers from McMaster-Carr, though I have been looking at some of the airplane controls...

i definately wanna see pics, then pick your brain on how you did it. i read the one forum that became too long and want to see a final setup so that i can start mine.
