I just drove by a 1963 Nissan (Datsun) Patrol. It looked like a range rover crossed with some russian jeep. I didn't have my digicam around so I don't have any pics, but if anyone knows of this vehicle and can tell me anything about it would help me a lot because it is for sale for what seems like a reasonable price.
one for sale down the street from me for 3k. after looking at it i came to the conclusion it was only worth buying for the novelty factor of a unique body style and it would need a whole new powertrain and drive train to really wheel the way i like too. but other than that i looked cool

i have a friend building one, tbi 350, nv4500, dana 300 w/ 4.1 d60's, detroits, 4.56, 38's, he had rebuilt it back to stock, found out it wasn't worth shiat, tore it back down and is turnin it into a nice rig, the frame is strong and the body looks cool, he got his for i think around $500 though

Good page that shows all of the models (http://win.cea.ru/~eugene77/model.htm)
Probably a good US source of info (http://communities.msn.com/NissanPatrolClubAlbuquerque)

yeah i saw one of those in a junkyard up in PA.....like a cross between a Rover and a Cruiser.
could be a pretty cool wheeler if you had the patience to invest and the price was right.

Cool page. I used to have a SWB Y60 , and loved that truck. I didn't know anything about hardcore wheeling back then, but it took me anywhere I wanted to go and back.
Didn't come with that girl in the red dress though  (see pic of Y61 interior)

Not sure I could wheel a nice one because i love the way they look and they are pretty rare in the US. If it was less than perfect, I would go to town with it. It would be a nice truck to build up.

I always thought they looked like a cross between a series Land Rover and a 40 series Land Cruiser. Patrols were very common back home (Venezuela), but they were only sold in the US for a few years, which makes parts hard to find. I've seen three or four Nissan Patrols in the US with FJ40 Land Cruiser drive trains, they're similar in dimensions, so that may be one route to go.
