So I bought this Trek a few months ago. On my second ride I was crossing a small creek and misjudged the width and pulled up a bit too soon(trying to ride across on the back tire to miss the lip coming up),my front hit hard and I heard a "snap" sound. Fawk..... After i get to a suitable stopping area I checked everything out. Couldn't find anything wrong so we take off again. I notice a click sound anytime my fork moves so I stop again and realize that the fork is pretty soft and the adjustments on the right side arent' changing anything.
What do you think I possibly could have done? Never had a fork apart before and haven't called to shop where I bought it yet to see if they'll help me out at all..
Any ideas? Just trying to figure out if the shop wont help me(had the bike for about 3 months now and only rode it twice) what my options are. Fix this one(if possible) or start looking for a new fork?
BTW, this model of the Axel only has the lockout and compression adjustment on the right side(sitting on the bike).. It doesn't have a travel adjustment like on their site.
TIA!

Just checked the Answer site on these and it looks just liek the Axel Super without the dial on the left side.

take it back to the shop, pretty much all new bikes have a one year warranty on the parts (Trek does for sure) so they will take care of you. As for what happened, you probably broke the compresion adjustment, on most low to middle range forks they are just a small plastic screw so it doesn't take much. Good luck and don't let the shop say no if they try to.

Thanks.
I called and they said to bring it in and they would look at it. And that the Trek warranty wouldn't cover it but the Answer/Manitou would.. Cool Beans!

***UPDATE***
Well I dropped the bike off today at the shop... Guy looks at it and calls Answer for warranty. THey get off the phone and say they're going to send out a whole new side of the fork to replace. Then the shop owner looks at me and says he'll spot me 30 mins labor but if it is longer he'll have to charge me. I was please with that and stated that I didn't feel I should have to pay seeing how the bike was only about 3 months old and I've only ridden it twice. That includes my first trip of 13.5 miles on the road and the second trip where I was less than one mile into a bike path and it broke coming over a creek crossing. So he says he cant give me more than 30 mins and that he felt that it was caused by abuse. When he said he thought it was caused by abuse, that didn't make me happy. Basically he is calling me a liar. So when I got back to the office and I talked to Answer. The guy I talked to at Answer was exceptionally nice. Explained the situation with the dealer and what had happened to the fork. Then explained that I'm 30 years old, over weight and have asthma... He didn't feel there was an abuse issue and said to have the shop call him and he would get everything straightened out...
Call the shop and spoke with the owner. I was very nice and even stated that I wasn't triying to make enemies, cause problems or anything.. Just didn't appreciate been called a liar. So they are supposed to call Answer.... We'll see what happens from here.

My luck sucks ass...
Well my local shop got the parts in and supposedly fixed my fork... When I picked the bike up, the top seal was oily, but figured it was because of them working on it.
Not 2 miles into a light duty trail, the fork starts leaking and having harsh rebounds again.. :mad3:
So I called Manitou and they gave me an RA# and I have to ship it to them. Shitty thing is... I was browsing mtrb.com last night and there reviews on my bike.. Seems like lots of people are having problems with this fork. :shaking:
I'm keeping my eye out for a replacement!!!
