Are all 6 lug 14 bolts semi float?

What is involved to convert a 8 lug FF 14 bolt to 6 lug. I would be doing away with the drums and using disc brakes.

On 8 lug, what is the exact dimension of the hub part of the axle that goes through the rim hole? I was wondering if it would fit inside my 6 lug wheels.

do some searchin on here.......... i remember a while back that some one and also some shop made their own custom wheel hubs.. i looked into it for my k1500 DD truck, but decided it wouldn't be worth it. (something like 250-300 a side)
