I have a 04 2500 4x4 with a hemi and am looking for a way to get more torque out of this thing. This is my tow rig and I need a little more. I live in Cali so I do have to deal with smog issues. I have only heard about reprograming the computer. Anyone ever done this? Is it really worth the money? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

I don't know where you want to begin, but I'm getting started by freeing up the airflow. I put in a stock replacement k&n, and it didn't do crap for power or mileage. So my next step is to go ricer style with a CAI. That will smooth out the airflow, and allow more airflow over the stock airbox. I may or may not toss in a TB spacer as well. Headers and a freed up exhaust will follow shortly. I think you should look along those lines. If you wanna go cheap, put a flow in it. If you look at your stock muffler, you'll see why I reccommend this. Talk about restrictive... Anyway, once you do all that, then you should start looking at playing with the computer to take advantage of all your mods. My $.02

FYI an Edelbrock TES made 27hp on a 1500 ram hemi. It is one of the highest gains they have seen in a stock truck. The OEM manifolds suck.
