: Your Thoughts: Carb Vs TBI Vs Vortec

I am triing to decifer what engine to put into my Willys Wagon. I currently have a 700R4 with 231C/208 T-case (out of a 89 fullsize Blazer) in the truck now. I had a carburated engine in it before, but only got a mere 5K miles on it before detonation(:nuke:) killed two of the pistons, anyway I am not sure if I want to put a carb onto the 350 TBI I have or not, or just toss that motor and sway to a vortec style. Costwise I am thinking that wiring is definetly going to be more time consuming and all, but I am willing to figure it out/pay for that. Also, I drive very hard (who doesn't) and want something with a little more power so to me I think that by the time I beef up the TBI a little I would have ben better off just to do the vortec, I dunno. Anyway, just a little food for thought. Let me know what you think, good or bad. :smokin: :smokin:

TBI... easy setup, reliable power

I agree: The TBI setup is pretty simple, and thus reliable. I grafted a TBI setup on my Toyota 2F motor, and the wiring is
pretty straighforward. The low-pressure injectors are very durable and shouldn't fail on the trail, and since it doesn't have a MAF sensor like the vortec, you don't have to worry about replacing that #$% expensive part if you beat on it too hard.

I have been debating some of the same things and basically the TBI is cheap and easy, but a tpi type port setup would be better for power and milage.

How many of you have driven a VORTEC powered Chevy??

I drive one everyday and I'm always amazed at how much power it makes. It would give my Carb'd and mildly built 350 a Damn good run for it's money!! .........and my '99 blazer only has the V-6 vortec.!!!!!!

If I was gonna swap a new motor just for it's induction system (as apposed to just putting an induction system on mine) I'd DEFINITELY GO WITH A VORTEC!!
