I just converted my '98 ZJ from 2wd over to 4wd. Took it for a test run today, and All I can say is "wow".... It sure rides better that the CJ. :D:D
Anyone with questions can shoot me an email.
Had I taken the "easy" route and waited to locate a "complete" donor ZJ, it would've been very easy, but since I didn't (couldn't) then I had a few headaches. I ended up with a ZJ D30, which is a hold-over until I get the XJ H/P D30 ready to go in... and a 2000 TJ NP231. I went ahead with that, due to the "external" slip yoke of the TJ case.
Worked wonderfully.:D

Wouldn't the easy route of been to sell your 2wd ZJ and then go purchase a 4wd ZJ:rolleyes: Congrats on doing it though

Well, selling the ZJ to buy another would be the "easy" route... if you have the ability to do so. I traded to get my ZJ, so the money I have tied up in it is more than I can balance out. Also, If you wanted, with the right money, you could build a 2wd ZJ from the ground up just like you wanted.
The 2wd and 4wd are pretty much the same. The Laredo w/o the Up Country springs sit about the same hight. Up Country adds about a inch or so in hight. I added a "Anthony's Budjet Boost" for an extra 2" on my original springs. As for pics... I haven't had any luck posting them here due to differences in this board system and MSN's way of filing pics. There are a few here:

im assuming you used the 42re tranny? that easily mated up with the 231? did you swap engine, tranny, wiring harness and computer too? do you still have parts from the rest of the donor vehicle?
