: Front locker

I need help on deciding what front locker i should go with. Im debating between, True Track, Lock right, or Power Lok. People say the lock right doesnt disengage very often so up front its not the best choice, but its cheap and easy. Ive heard good things about the True Trak, and the Power lok i hear is the best to run as far as a posi goes. It is a D44 axle, also this rig is my daily driver during winter and rainy days so i dont want to weld, or spool it, and i cant afford an ARB. I will be running 35s, possibly 36s in the future. Any help or info on any of these would be appreciated. Thanks

I would say go Detroit, but if I had to choose from the selections you gave I would say Powerlok.:D

Detroits expensive for a D44 or i would probably do that. My tax return isnt as big as i want it to be so im kind of limited. I have to buy a rear locker as well.

just save your money and do it right the first time. You will be glad you did in the long run. If you only have enough to do one end right now, then just run it that way until you can afford the other.;)

If you are going to use 4wd on snowy roads, I don't think a Detroit or Loc-Rite is a good idea. I guess the Tru-Trac is pretty good, but I would go with the Power-Loc. ARB or Ox is the best, locked when you want & open when you want.

True-Tacs arent a very good locker i feel. They are more of a LSD. My buddy has one in his toyota and it snow it doesnt work that great. Most of the time is is sending the power to the other wheel that doesnt need traction. Powerlock stick alot which makes it very hard to turn. But work very good in the rear.

I put a Lock-Rite in the front a few years ago. It's OK most of the time, but it's usually when I need it to unlock the most, it doesn't. I wish I would have saved a couple hundred more and put a Detroit or an ARB in. Whcih I will be doing soon anyway.

I am very happy with my lockright, but I have the advantageof twin stick, so I dont have much trouble with it not unlocking when I need it to :)

I've never had a problem with my lock-rite up front, never had much trouble with it not unlocking. Probably will go with ARB when I trash the D30 though

i have a detroit in my 44 and well ya its great when im wheeling but as far as 4wd high on the roads forget about it even with the hubs .im going to 60's so i need lockers front and rear but i just may wait until the elrctric detroits come out which will be very soon .limited slips then by the push of a button full time locker .now that is the shitttttttttt. i guess i will see. i was toying with the idea of ox or arb . good luck man...

I will probbly get flamed for this but ARB's are crap in my book!
In just about every trail run I have been to somone with an ARB has problems engaging it. I have seen more problems with ARBS than any other locker. The idea is good but it still has to many bugs and to many things to go wrong. I run lockrights in my dana 44 up front with 35 inch tires 4.56 gears granny gear t 18 and the straight six. I have decently low gears and havent been able to break this locker yet. When I do i will probbly go to a detroit. I do belive this is a good locker for the money thoagh.
I also will disagree about the front locker and snow being a bad thing. I had more problems in the snow when i was running a locker in the rear only. You do have to be a little carefull when cornering but I am more comfertable with them in than when they were both open. I live here in salt lake and do see alot of winter driving so this isnt writen on a whim....
