the vehicle in question is a 89 cherokee, automatic with the 4.0. it has been giving me problems with hard starting and running rich upon start up for some time now. within the past few years i have replaced just about everything that could be the problem, but have had no real luck. a search brought up this thread... http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=337645&highlight=distributor+sync . after reading this, i figured that i might as well drop a few more dollars to hopefully fix my ongoing problem. i was in the auto parts store picking some stuff up and asked about the "distributor sync," at which point i got a dumb stare and was informed that the guy had never heard of this. my question then is, what exactly is a distributor sync? and does it have any other names that might be more familiar? any other insight into what might be my problem is greatly appreciated. it has a new O2 sensor, tps, dist. cap and rotor, spark plugs, coil, and fuel pump.
