Has anybody ever seen a NP 435 in a Chevy. I pulled one the other day. Just wondering what years they used these.

Best I know, Chevy never used a NP-435. Chevy used the Saginaw-Munci (SM) 465 and 420s. Fird and Dodge used the New Process (NP) 435. I guess if you took an old small bearing bell housing from an old chevy (one that origionally had a SM 420) and have it machined out to fit the bearing retainer from you NP 435, it'd bolt right ing. The problem is finding a clutch that works with the SBC pressure plate and the NP 435. Check with advanced adapters.

They were definitely used in some '67 - '72 2WD trucks. Maybe in some '73+ trucks also?

Black Dog is correct, they were used from '67 to '72 but not at all common. They were used in anything from 1/2 ton to 3 ton trucks from what I can tell in my old manuals. Do you want to get rid of it? PM me if you do. I know a fellow that may be interested.
I only know a little about them because I have one in a Chev powered project.

BWT- since we know Chev -did- use the NP435, people might be interested to know that it uses the larger index circle, 5-1/8 I believe. I got one of the old cast iron belhousings like this from a Muncie truck which works out great. If I ever want the NV4500...

Correct, 69 Chevy 3/4 ton Longhorn edition 2wd pickup. We pulled it this last weekend. Definatly a Np435. One pto cover, aluminum top cover, NP cast into it. So it is definatly not a 420. Just never seen one in a Chevy before. My buddy already sold it.

Bagman, you don't happen to know what the 1st gear was? 6.68 or 4.56... not that it matters.

Not sure the truck was bought because of the clean cab and factory a/c. Hard to to say never drove it though. Heard that the truck used to get good gas milage on road trips though , and had an Eaton rear ( still for sale anyone?). So it may have been the 6.68 my buddy thought it was a 420 and said that it had a low first.
