Assuming that the bend-over tabs were the response to thread locking in the mid-sixties, do you suppose that red loctite would be a suitable substitute for the tabs? Perhaps both? Reuse the tabs?
Thoughts, comments?

Removed the tab on my mini in favor of loctite...no problems to speak of(relative to the clutch/flywheel.)

I have assembled 4 (or more) series engines and always just used loctite and the appropriate torque for the flywheel to crank bolts. Never had a problem.

I am sure you can substitute locktite.
Never had any luck re-using bend tabs, always seem to break. So I always just order new tabs along with the rest of the parts, wether it was rebuilding the engine, or the wheel hubs.
