: 2000 4.3 V6 high IDLE

I searched and could not find any additional help.

2000 Vortec v6 out of a S10 Blazer idles at 1000 cold then at 1500 at operating temp (~200 degress). Computer has been reprogrammed just to do basic engine functions - no emmisions - no trans. Harness was rewired. O2 sensors were included on harness but was told not to worry about them, and was also told they are not causing the problem.

I have checked the TPS (and replaced it) it is at .6 Volts

The IAC does move with ignition on. With the IAC unplugged the engine idles real high - plug it back in - back to "normal" high idle

I was told the normal idle in neutral for this engine is at about 700RPM I am at about 1500RPM.

The fuel pressure is at spec.

If I kink the return line to the fuel cell the engine speed does increase - unkink it it will go back to 1500.

No vacuum brakes or any other accesories - this line has been capped coming out of the manifold.

Lines coming from the exhaust to the intake manifold have been capped.

Operates the same with the fuel cell cap on or off.

Plugs and wires are in good condition.

Good gas.

Only problem with engine is high idle.

Engine has about 70,000 miles on it.

All injectors have been cleaned.

New air filter.

No codes from code reader other than o2 sensors.

I don't know what it could be - does anyone have anything I could try?

Thanks in advance!

If you're using the original intake and had the upper plenum off, then you probably rolled the seal on the metering block (or didn't notice it missing) on reinstallation. this is an oring that rides around the block and seals the block to the upper intake. with that seal rolled or missing, you have a huge vac leak. or if you pulled the booster hose off, then you may have a giant hole in the back part of the intake just behind the metering block (where the injectors are, below the inj connector). that's what i'd be looking for. good luck. Thanks

I am using the stock throttle body connected to a tube with the MAF and a K&N filter on it. I am confused on the booster hose. My injectors are all under the plastic intake and that is under the throttle body. This engine has "Spider Injection".

This might be stupid, but are you sure you set the initial timing correct. On my Tuned Port you've got to disconnect a brown wire when you set the timing. If you're sure, I'd say vacuum leak or temperature switch? Good Luck.

I did not set the timing. I was told it was done via the computer. If the timing was wrong - would the code ready state that?

I am checking for vacuum leaks again.

Thanks!
