I searched high and low, and I cant find it.

Whats the difference in wheelbase on the 80 vs. the 800, vs. the scout II?

AFAIK all scouts and standard scoutII were 100"

The later scoutII traveller and terra were 118"

I always liked the scout 80/800 on the sII frame.

Better running gear. IMHO.

Are the frames any stronger on the scout II's? Or is it just the fact that they have d44's?

wheelbase is the same but a II has a ton more overhang

A v8 powered 800 is around 102"

Thats the reason the rear tires arent centered in the wheel openings.

I'm gonna fix that someday...................... :D

Hmm. My IH literature says they are 100"

I'll have to measure my 800 when I get home.

I'm not sure he was refering to it being 102 from the factory!!! :D
Might be the 30+ years had something to do with it!!
And maybe the rally driving!

How much slack does the spring bushings take up?

Don't know if there is any real problem with the frames.
I know the SII has problem with everything that is welded to the frame cracking and coming loose!!!
Best to gusset or reweld it all!!

My V8 800 was 100" stock.

All Scout 80's, 800's and II were 100" from the factory. The only Scout that wasn't is the Terra and Traveler, which are 118"

I think my 800 has a wider frame that my buddys SII...But my 800/V8 was 100'' and now is 102''-103''

Yes, 80's and 800's have wider frames then the Scout II. The exact difference escapes me right now.

so with your 38's you only moved the front axle an inch forward and the back 2?

(that's a guess)

I have moved my back 2.5" allready - haven't got the front done but I imagine about the same forward

If you move the axle forward on an 80 at all, you have to trim the fenders & the front clip.

when i put my front bumper on my frame in the front was 3 in wide in my sII and my buddies scout 80 was 4 in, i think its like that through the whol frame, and scout II and scout 80 both had a 100in wb

The body was repositioned on the frame thru the years of the 80-800-800B. Thats why you see some where the tires don't match the wheel well opening. All wheelbases have remained the same at 100" includeing the Scout II.

I moved the front 1'' and the rear 2'' and trimed to fit

As you can see I still had more to go in the front :flipoff2:

Yes you are right Brandon...I think it all depends on how much you are willing to cut....My tires are 38.5 actualy measure 37'' ~ 14.50 actual 12.5 ~ 38.5 14.5 15

Two inches.

I stand corrected!! I knew there was something to do with a lack or addition of two inches somewhere. :D

Flame on!!!

Bill Is probly correct also as ALL my spring bushings are TOAST and the bumpstops are in contact with the frame all the time!! :(

I like the lack of overhang though.

Very good info.

Anyone know the outside to outside measurment of a scout 80?

I think I just found myself a 64 scout 80 as my next project :grinpimp:

don't have the # right now but it's the same as my 83 toyota (body width), but shorter :)

What about the frame width?

Any idea if the engine location is anything similar to what it is on a toyota?

Brandon

it's totally different - I'm trying to put the engine that was in my yota into my scout and it's more work that it was putting it into the yota by far! (it's a mustang 5.0)'

Frame width is nearly a foot wider than the yota! Maybe not quite a foot, I could measure for sure since I have both at home but I know I can fit the toyota frame INSIDE the scout frame..

The body was moved forward on the V8 models for clearance issues.100" wheel base, if you look close enough, you will notice that the front wheels are not centered in the opening also. I pushed the front forward 2 inches and left the rear alone.
You should beef up or replace the stock shackle mounts becouse they will not hold up to the forces applied while in off camber situations. I used 1/4" flat stock to box mine. Cheby springs go in next year. :flipoff2:
