: "Feedback" Orbital Valves?

Okay, I'm close to jumping in with full hydro...I'm not worried about street manners and such, and after talking with the boy's at WMS they were telling me that a Ross valve has a good feed-back feel to it, and comes close to a return-to-center...True? Or is this just wishfull thinking....As in "I think I feel a return-to-center"?

And before everyone jumps in with "why not assist?" well, I've got several reasons....Clearance and space is the #1 issue.

I dont know why people are worried about return to center. I dont even notice that it doesnt. Most people that 4x4 useally drive back out of A turn any how. After I finished mine I let my girl friend drive into town with it while I road passenger and I did not tell her anything about it would not return to center. She never even noticed. I asked her what she thought about the steering now and she said it drives more like A sports car now because it steers much faster And responds faster. It does drive nice on the road. I guess good drivers drive there truck not let the truck drive for them. I have the charlyne orbitel valve.

I don't know about how good they feel, because I have not tried the one that I am getting yet. But I just though I would let you know that I have found a place where (I have a business with them) I can get Charlynn load sensing orbital valves for around $300(depending on which displacement that you need).

I can also get an Arlington 2.25" bore 8" stroke double ended rams with foot mounts and spherical rod ends for $300.

The exact valve(above for $300) that I priced would turn the above ram from lock to lock in 4 turns of the wheel(or two turns from center to lock). And it can turn from center to lock in ~ 2 seconds if you turn the wheel that fast.

Also a 12" steering column for the Charlynn is $50.
A few people have been asking me questions on these already(how them mount, how the steering wheel connects etc..), and I will have your answers shortly.

PM me if interested.

I have followed Casey on the street with his setup and I can say is I am considering it for a daily driver, even though I shouldn't.

I have also heard their horror stories on some of the other units.

Hell, I used John Deere Combine Steering that was 30+ years old on a '63 landcruiser, it works great! That rig gets driven by at least 4-5 different people. Everyone likes it a lot better than with the tons of links landcruiser linkage! I like being able to drive with one hand again!

I would be very interested in a feedback ram system for the front of the new buggy.

I am also looking for some kind of self center system for the rear....maybe.
