: ??? before buying 89 Range Rover
GTMODOG 05-19-2005, 01:32 PM I have the opportunity to buy an 89 RR, w/ newly rebuilt 3.5 (now has 60k on it and was rebuilt at 90K), new MC, New 3.9 cam, Chrome country rims, and Continental divide Bull bar. The bad: Both rear windows do not work. I used to have a 99 Disco w/ a 4.0. I know very little about the 3.5. He will sell it to me for less than $2,500. And he is the original owner. Does that sound like a steal or just an average price? Thanks in advance. Cordell
RedRhinoProducts 05-19-2005, 01:56 PM Cordell, tell Cliff I said Hi!...and ask him wheres my pictures??? :)
madcowdungbeetle 05-19-2005, 02:06 PM if it's an '89 shouldn't it have a 3.9 in it?
RedRhinoProducts 05-19-2005, 02:19 PM It is an 89 and it does have a 3.5 [rebuilt.] I was talking with Cliff about it but never got past that. I am not sure but I would suspect that its at least still running the 14CUX which would be a good thing.
As to why someone would pull out a 3.9 for a 3.5...who understands anything Rover owners do.
What's the condition of it?
GTMODOG 05-19-2005, 02:27 PM Yeh, I'll tell him. If I buy it, it will have to be sight unseen due to currently deployed in GTMO Cuba. However, It sound like it is in good condtion. I just need it to stay together for about (2) yrs. Then I will probably get tired of competing and put my MOG/9", axles, rear steer, LC Toyota racing motor, Atlas and Powerglide in it. It probably wouldn't be streetable anymore!!! What do you guys think, yay or nay. And is the reliability (electrical) that baaaad? Thanks, Cor
PTSchram 05-19-2005, 03:58 PM For those $, it ought to be pretty good, not have things like in-op windows, etc.

Have to agree. Fact that they changed out the motor and its got problems.
I have seen a numebr of strong running late 80's RRC sell in the 1500-2500 range. Though I have also seen people asking 10k. "It's a range rover, 10k is a steal"
Yeah what evah.
RedRhinoProducts 05-20-2005, 01:05 PM Here are some pics of it... Don't know if that's paint or decals but the truck looks to be in pretty decent shape from these.

PTSchram 05-20-2005, 02:10 PM Well now, that "Custom" paint ought to make it worth at least a coupla thousand more :flipoff2:
BTW-I've actually spoken with Red Rhino, he's better on the phone than on the internet, knida like Pendy :flipoff2:
RedRhinoProducts 05-20-2005, 02:26 PM Well it's at least worth a free case of  with vehicle purchase. Or maybe it requires a case before so you get drunk ahead of time easing the sale... :D Sorry Cliff, I couldn't resist. I actually think they look kind of cool.
Same to you PT. :flipoff2:
