I have a 00 CC frontier and am having a problem with the tailgate. Not really a 4x4, rockcrawling, offroading questions, but I thought someone might be able to help.

The gate has the typical triangular bend in the lower left corner as most all Nissan gates do. But now it sags on the right side and rubs the top of the bumper when I open it. This is f-ing up the paint on the gate. When i drop the gate, the left side sits about 1/4" above the bumper when the tailgate cable is fully stretched. But the right side doesn't stretch out all the way and the gate is sitting on the bumper. The bumper is find, no play and I haven't backed into anything to bend it. And it doesn't appear that the gate is tweaked any. I can't figure it out. ANd I like to keep my ride looking nice, so I would like to fix this if I can without major body work.

Anyway, I know the crease in the lower left corner is normal for nissans. Anybody know anything about the gate riding on the bumper like this?

Many people make the mistake of continuing to pull on the handle after the gate is already unlatched. If you pull the gate on its way down, it will easily come out of place on the left side. Get a rubber mallet and push the corner back in place and just remember to only us ethe handle to unlatch the gate, and then let its own weight pull it down.

Thanks Joey- but I don't have a problem with the right side. The little bend there doesn't bother me much. The problem is the opposite side where the tailgate is rubbing the bumper when i put it down.
