my friend just bought an 82 f350 (not 100% on that) f350 with dana 60 ttb and im positive its leaf sprung.

was this popular? im not into fords and know little about them, but im wondering about that 60 ttb, is it as strong as a regular 60?

plan is to lift it enough to fit 38s on it and use it as a mud truck that wont touch the street.

any simular buildups anyone knows of point me a link because ive searched and cant find much.

thanks

It's either a 44 or 50 TTB. Popular? Not really. Strong as a 60? No way.

A live 60 from an '86+ F350 will bolt right in.

Or there's always

wow how many people did that?

would it be better to swap in a free dana 44 (leaf sprung) and put shafts in it?

is the 50 much better then solid 44

These are prototype axles that would be way cool to try. Give em a shout and see if they can give you any tips.

what spline inners do those run? if they are stock D50 30 spliners i wouldn't say thats much stronger than a plain old D44 HD.

Thats a lot cleaner than any other examples of that type I've seen, although I'd be worried about it bending where the tube is welded into the open part at the pig.

The 50 is better than the 44 overall (has bigger axlejoints, hubs & ring & pinion), but the axle spline size is the same. Whether the shafts neck down to the same degree as 44 shafts or not would be the big determining factor in how much stronger than a 44 it is.

IIRC the d50 shafts neck down to the size of a 44's. making them weaker IMO.
