i talked with bobbie long about some off his life time birfs. can i put them in with no major problems? i understand that they are alittle shorter than the cruiser and i can use a 8m/m bolt and a fender washer to keep the axle from pushing into the housing to far. anything else to worry about? and will it be fine on a fj62?

I installed these a few weeks ago. The fit right in my axle with no additional bolt and washer. Not sure what the difference is, I'm running mini truck knuckles on an early housing. The other dimensions will clear sinc ethey aren't any larger than a mini-fj6x birf.

I did install the outer snap ring that I had not been running previously. This is what the bolt and washer replace, and it's not necessary, just a preference. Mostly because when the last birf broke it was able to move in and out and trashed the inner seal surface when I drove it off the trail. The alternative was to stop and fix it there, right!

Don't install the inner wire clip that holds the axle into the birf's inner race. When your axle breaks, you won't get it out. I wish I would have heard of these before, they are without a doubt much stronger than the other birfs out there, with the possible exception of the newest Newfileds.

I also (at Bobby's recomendation) turned in my steering stops. With 38's I can turn sharper than some of the sammi's I wheel with. Next is hydro assist, so I don't have to unlock the ARB to get turned that tight.

Sorry I didn't actually answer your question!

Run em. After 79 the LC birfs and pickup birfs are identical.

Have fun!

Mine will be ordered by next month..

Yep, they are a direct swap for your FJ62. Shouldn't need any grinding and you can use the clip inside the hub (no washer needed).
