went and measured for a new rear frame cross member, since the old metal is kinda sagging where the body mounts to it out back. going to replace it w/ 1/4" steel next weekend and possibly start putting back together my np 205,

worked on my half doors a little, getting the curves right, and everything smoothed out, getting tube for it this up coming week...

Mowed my lawn twice with the ride on mower. Broke my push mower, almost trashed my new Troy-built weedeater because of the gay line feed system. Ran to town for a new pushmower and the nylon blade attachment to replace gay line feed on weedeater.

Ripped out my walls in the master bath and went back into town to buy new floor tile for same. Watched gas gauge drop like a rock after the two 75mile trips.

Finished ordering my Travelall's lift/steering stuff.

BTW John Fleck @ Back Country Binders aka "The Fleckster" here is a top notch guy to deal with. His employee Joe is cool too. John is building me a new HD tie rod and drag link to match the new steering arm I have. That and the new MSD6 should be here late next week or week after. I'll do a write up on JI w/pics while doing it in two weeks. For those who care.

Other than that it was a yard cleanup weekend for me. I didnt even get to see SW episode III.

I love having my days off durring the week!

It's noon on saturday, and you are posting an update? Either you are really fast or really bored. :D

I picked up my tube from work and took it to Tuffjarhed's house. It'll still be a week or so before we start. His Heep is in the garage waitng on the front axle to be put back in. My pile is waiting to go in.

I'm trying to make a list of odds and ends I will need to finish this.

how can I report when it isn't even over? Not much scout work goin on this weekend, off to a wedding here soon. Threw on a new radiator support thing on the DD ZJ. Next step on the scout is to cut the 3x4 steel I bought into a front crossmember (6 45degree cuts). I need to get a bandsaw, chop saw is gonna suck.

It one of those deals Kevin sells? I've been meaning to rip that off for some time for the wife's ZJ....

As far as the scout goes, as of 5 minutes ago the hydro steering is working :grinpimp: It still has a little air in the system and the pump is being awfully loud, but I'm not sure what to expect with it really since it's a PSC hi-flow thing-a-magig (model 1405). Still have the front tires off the ground since I'm dealing with the front suspension next (this afternoon and tomorrow) so I can't say anything real yet about performance....

Anyway, I'll post an update on Monday...

Josh....

1. Are you still going to keep the narrowed front fenders that you made?

2. Ever going to go Reverse Shackle on that thing?

Yeah a friend of mine told me he has an adapter for SBC to IH drivetrain. At least I think he did...

1) Yep. We'll see how it turns out, but with this new setup the hood is about 4" lower... sloaping towards the front. I'm also in the middle of dovetailing the hood. It only come in 3" at each side on the front and stock on the rear of the hood. It's hardly noticible. One thing though... I will likely have to cut a hole in the hood for the air filter. Any ideas for a cowel?

2) No. Never. It's not a pre-runner. :flipoff2:

I made this twinstick setup on a Dana20 for a friends jeep. Tomorrow I plan on a visit to the ToweFord Museum to check up on my Scout.

put a wicked 2" long, 0.5" deep gash down the side of my right index finger. the doc at the ER had to use a "running stich" since it was so deep. took 14 stiches to close it. it's throbbing like two MF'ers right now.

EDIT: well since a post like this is worthless without pics.... I've updated it with some visuals... :flipoff2:

Since some desert wheelin is in the plans next weekend, and I may be waiting in line a lot (High Desert Roundup), I figured I better get the fan shroud made up. Someone gave me a donor shroud at IHWR but it was too wide and the fan opening was too small.

Enter the cut-off wheel.

A couple of hours later I had a custom 2 piece fan shroud that looks like it will do the trick and will let me pull the shroud without removing the fan/radiator, etc..

Oh yeah...changed the oil.

start figuring out how i am going to do my cage and took the bulkhead for the 1/2 cab out of my scout.

what do you think of the cage so far? its based off of the D and C extreme cage (already bought and installed)

dont mind the poor photoshopped on tires, i was playing around with it a while ago and its the only side view picture i have of my scout.

one of my toys bit me. mr finger tried to share the same space as the 15" prop on the crankshaft of one of my model airplane engines. the engine was a 1.5 cu. in. 4-stroke engine. it's rated at 1.5 bhp and runs on nitro-methanol (15% nitro). i'm just glad it was only idling at about 2400 rpm instead if running wfo at 9500 rpm when my dumb ass stuck my finger in the arc of the prop (not purposely, of course). i'd probably be minus a digit..... but it wouldn't have been this one :flipoff2:

I've always thought that if I lose a finger or part of a finger "please o please let it not be the trigger finger" but that's just me. :flipoff2:

It's been an interesting week. Long story short, I pulled the trans on Thurs and re-installed on Sat., in record 96* heat, because I didn't have enough fluid in it. This was the result of me being an idiot, an apparently unnecessarily long Lokar dipstick, a misunderstanding of a manual, and me being an idiot. At any rate, she's all together, minus a few asthetic odds & ends.

Hardcore, eh? :flipoff2:

Fabbed seat mounts for the Beards, too.. that was fun, since I needed to "drop" the rear of the seat rail a few inches from the cage to get the seat to at least sit level, if not tilt rearward. Took a few attempts, but my helmetted head is almost 3" inside the cage now, and I can actually see over the hood at the same time. :D

Threw some paint on the brackets this AM.

Still need to intall the taillights, fix a couple of paint boo-boos (like a little overspray from the stripes.. d'oh), and install the RaceAir pumper.

Also want to relocate the electric fan switch to under the seat - I can't reach it while belted in. :D

I'd REALLY like to cut the driver's door bar out and make it a diagonal. The Beards have higher sides and are a "bigger" seat than the plastic buckets I pulled, and sliding into the pilot's seat is more work now.

..and I need to track down some more "We Race Farm Equipment" stickers.. though I had another set.. but while I had some vinyl letters in the drawer, it wasn't the WRFE I thought it was. :D

So I take it your installing the glove box latch then?? :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Spent saturday swapping engines in the 1200 that is being converted to 4x4. Kinda of an odd IH weekend as the motor that we put in was the 392 from Binderbounds "Big Red" he totalled at Naches last year. We also loaded Binders old 392 and sent it off to it's new owner. Sunday mowed the lawn, went to the dump, worked on the little tractor and stared at the broken TC, guess it's time to spend some money and fix it :flipoff2:

Went hiking with the wife and dogs. that was fun.

doing little things around the house like cut a hole in my firewall to mount the fuseblock from a 79 harness. I have given in and will start wiring with a 79 harness and then modify it with the changes I need to make everything work.

Oh well - maybe I can have this thing moving on its own again soon. :shaking:

What wireing do you need to do???

To make a Scout move on its own: Wire from battery to toggle switch to distributor. Wire from battery to another toggle (momentary) to starter solinoid. Wire from battery to starter.

flip first switch, hit second switch, drive.

If you want brake lights and such BS... that takes a little more work, but it will move with out them :D:D
