Are the ball joint style ones all the same for all applications? I have a POS unit bearing auto hub setup on my 97 Ram and I was wondering if I could swap in a manual hub setup from a another truck like an older Dodge, Ford, Chevey, don't care as long as I can go to high steer/x-over.
Then I would swap one peice Warns with Superior or CTM joints, loose the CAD and throw in a Detroit.
If I could do the swap, is there are large differnce in track width between a auto and manual hub setup?
Yeah, I know. Damn newbie....

you will have to replace the axle ends, as they wont bolt on. It would be easier to start with a complete 44 housing, with the parts you want

No, there are 2 differnt styles. one where the joint fits in the inner knuckle (or C) and one where the joint fitsin the outer steering knuckle. Unfortunately, what ya got and what ya want are the 2 different styles

I've got a unit-bearing hub '77 axle and was under the impression that I could put outer knuckles off something else (ie GM) onto this one. Is this true or am I all screwed up again?

Got any pics of the two styles? Not sure I am understanding what you are describing.

Okay, got it. When you said "joints" I had no idea which joitns you were talking about with steering axle being the topic. Ball joints fitting into the axle yoke/inner knuckle versus being fitted into the steering knuckle.
How different are the steering knuckles between a D44 and the D30? Think I could make the Warn 5x5.5 hub conversion work?
