well I decided to take Project "BuBBa" down to get a muffler put on at lunch. Which one sounds the best on a 1.3L? Also should I ditch the tail-pipe and go weed burner tip or should I leave the factory tail-pipe on? Thanks guys!! :D

- Dynamax
- Flowmaster
- Magnaflow
- glasspack

Flow master and Dyna max work well if you want a chamber.:)

which one sounds better in your guy's opinion? I dont want to sound annoying like those gay-ass honda guys, more tuned sounding but still somewhat loud. know what I mean... :D

Thanks!

I've had both. One was a flowmaster 2" exhaust front to back with a thorely header and a mildy built 1.3L 8v (stock) motor. The other was a completely stock 1.3L twincam with 2" exhaust and a dynomax.
The flowmaster has it's own sound that is cool if you are into that kind of thing. The Dynomax has a hi po sound but isn't unique or as loud. To get the "what have you got in there" questions go with the flow. I got tired of the tin can free flow kind of sound becuase I traveled 60Mi to work and back every day and chose the dynomax. Besides I liked kicking the shat out of fart pipe honda civics and the dynomax / twincam let me take them by surprise rather than sounding like I had balls and really didn't.

For the newest incarnation I'm going with the flowmaster because I want to it to sound like the 4.3L is really an 8 and now I sleep on the bus instead of drive it everyday. :D

I have a glasspack on my stock 1.3L. It sounds pretty cool, I think, for a 4 cyl. It does NOT sound like a ricer (if it did, I would cut it off!). It sounds kinda cool, too, when you are slowing down to stop because it kinda pops and rumbles at you. I think it's cool, anyway. It lets me forget for a moment that it has the tiny, stock 1.3L in it. :D ~Steve

well I ended up getting a magnaflow with a 2" tail-pipe. They did a really good job but I have to admit I was a little dissapointed in how quiet it is... Still sounds good, and has a awesome tone to it I was just hoping it would be a little louder :D It'll probably burn through eventually and get louder. Atleast thats what I my friends magnaflow did on his Jeep.

they do make a Flowmaster for small imports so it would be tuned for the smaller displacement, never heard it though

What length are you running, you got any sound files of it? would you be willing to Capture some?.. I have had a lot of people say that it sounds good but I dont want to spend the munny if it sounds all Riced.. :D

I have a DynoMax Race Magnum muffler on my Samurai, and most people agree that on my 1300 GTi motor, its just about the best sounding muffler they've heard. I sure love it. It has a nice burble at idle, and just plain sounds MEAN at high RPMs.

My friend has a Flowmaster on his Samurai, and to be honest it sounds like an outboard boat motor. I think it's the 40-series, whichever is the Flowmaster muffler that's meant for the smallest motors.

Another friend of mine works for Flowmaster. When the 3 of us were discussing exhaust sounds on Samurai's, we were kind of poking fun at our buddy with the outboard Samurai, and I learned that Flowmaster specifically does not make mufflers for small import engines because they think they're lame. Flowmasters are for big American V8's, and that's it.

I wish that I could get my Samurai's 1300 to sound like the 440 in my Charger (it's got Flowmasters, of course!) but I'm quite happy with the sound of my 1300's Dynomax. Highly recommended.

I have to agree with zukiman about the dynomax sounding good. I have a super turbo behind my stock 1300 and love the sound over the 2 chamber flowmaster I had before. Going down the highway the dynomax doesn't resonate in the cab half as much as the flowmaster did. I felt a little more low end power with the dynomax to boot.:D

Hey Scwafish,
My zuk is sitting in the garage with no steering. I ordered a crossover from Roadless Gear and have not got it yet. I also drooped off my T-case at my friends place so he could fab me up a T-case "bucket". I'm not going to bend my mounts again!! You wouldn't happen to have a spare short arm laying around. I need a straight one. I'm going to start another thread and see if anyone has got one. We got to get together and have a cold one sometime.
:D
