Not sure yet... I'm thinking maybe the AA shorty headers with dual outlets and a crossover... but I'm not sure how I'm gonna plumb it out the back yet.

Some time after it warms up a bit up here... The thermometer in my car read -3 this morning as I was driving to work...

I gave $4589. Add another $303 to ship it here from Oregon and it was $4892. The sad part is, I could've just ordered one locally and went and picked it up from Brainerd (local small city) but the MN sales tax would've come to almost twice what the shipping costs were... freakin' taxes... You can blame your government for people not buying stuff locally..

I got it from a place called Salee Chevrolet. They had the best prices I could find... The guy said the prices were going up March first, so I jumped... Good thing I did because they said I got the last one they had in stock until their next shipment comes in next month some time.

Does anybody know if GM just sells the intake/cpu/harness separate from the motor. That would work great on my ZZ4.

nope. You can get the bare intake but it won't bolt to ZZ4 heads. They bolt only to: vortec heads, GM fast Burn heads, Edelbrock E-tec heads.

any idea if the ramjet intake will take a MSD billet distriutor?

Anybody have any good GM performance catolog websites?

Yeah, first you go out and get a job, earn it, and then shove it up your "as." There. you are now free to pull it out of your "as" at your leisure. :flipoff2:

Seriously, how come nobody bats an eyelash when people go out and spend 30 grand on a new pickup truck, but when I invest 1/3rd that much in my old Jeep's drivetrain so I can have a reliable vehicle, all of a sudden this becomes conspicuous consumption...?

I just don't get it...

What's wrong wiht the 4 barrel TBI?

The bare intake was $450 last time I checked. Then you need a 6.0L vortec throttel body, $220 for Ford SVO injectors, + fuel rails $?, + a computer to run it. Some guys from the 82-92 camaro firebird board are trying to get it to run on a TPI computer. An LT1 computer is more advanced but I don't know if it can control an HEI distributor. If your MSD billet distributor is the small cap one without the integrated coil, it should fit. It doesn't look like the big HEI can fit.

I think there was someone selling a complete Ram Jet EFI cat the Camaro Firebird site. : www.thirdgen.org

holley makes several EFI intakes that you can turn into systems. For both vortec and older heads. Here is their newest http://r71camaro.homestead.com/files/Stealth_Ram.jpg

putting LT1 and Lt4 intakes is the new big thing at the f-body site.

Why did you purchase a crate engine rather than build your own? This is not a flame, I am curious.

From what people say, the only extra thing that needs is a battery to start it, the accessories to run on it, a high pressure fuel source, and exaust.

Well here are my reasons (like 'em or not :flipoff2: ) :

1 Reliability
2 Warranty
3 I didn't want to piss around with rebuilding one... My shop is small, for the most part unheated (not good in Northern MN--it was -10 F this morning), and I really don't have the tools for a rebuild.

Yeah--that and a starter, pulleys & belts, and hoses to plumb the radiator and heater core...

I was really impressed by the completeness of the kit. It even came with things like spark plugs and wires, ignition coil, oil filter, harmonic balancer, flywheel, water pump--shit that usually doesn't come on a crate motor.

The best part is, it came with a code reader for engine diagonstics and the complete GM shop manual. :D

Jake, that's a beautiful engine!

I'd been planning out my YJ -> Ramjet adventure for months, but my #%(*$ tech stocks won't buy me an oil filter anymore, much less a $5000 engine.. so please, keep everybody posted on how the swap goes!

From everything I could find, that engine is an awesome candidate for a jeep swap. I wanted something that was reliable and strong - plus would give the rice boys a run for their money on the street. Hehehe.

If you do manage to make it to dresser. I'd love to see your engine in action. I feel weak and unmanly now. My YJ only has a 4.3L Vortec in it. Hmm, time to swap in that 502. At any rate nice engine and a wave from my big ugly green YJ in Roseville.

Yep, that's nice. Not a bad deal considering what you have to pay to get a good EFI setup bolted on, and hell I've got around 3500 just in my carb'd 401 long block! It's enough to make you stop and think before sending old stuff off to the machine shop.
