: 1988 chevy IFS

Okay I just purchased this silverado with a bad rearend I stuck 4:56 gears in the rear and now need to do the front but since I have never done gears in the front of a ifs truck I was wondering if there was any advice out there?

It's the same operation but with the diff on the bench instead of in the truck. the extension housing unbolts and the left axle seal cover comes off, then you pull the locking tabs on the adjusters and go to work. the pinion rolls in the same way, set pinion depth and then use the adjusters by turning them (they're threaded) in and out to achieve backlash and brg preload.
