Hi everyone, I'm a recent Chevy owner--'04 K2500 Crew Cab, 6.0L, 4.10's--and I have a couple questions so far...

First off, why do they put these little dinky tires on such a big truck??? Well, I want to increase my tire size, but I don't want a huge decrease in towing ability. I've been told I could fit 33's on it, if I crank the torsion bars, or rekey it, and trim the plastic on the front bumper a little, or I could fit 32's on it without any modifications. My real question is how much power loss regarding towing ability will I notice if I go to 33's?

Would there be a big difference in power between the 32's & 33's?

How much would replacing the exhaust system help overcome this power loss?

Thanks in advance!

Your truck came stock with LT245/75R16's, I'm assuming. 30.5" OD, ~682 revs/mi.

If you go to a LT265/75R16 (~31.5OD) , you're looking a 660 revs/mi. For towing, your RPM's would drop about 3% at any given speed (current 2500 RPM = 2420 new)

LT285/75R16, (~32.8 OD) you're looking ar 630 revs/mi. RPM's would drop about 8% at any given speed (current 2500 RPM = 2320 new)

Don't have experience with the truck, so I can't comment on the tow-ability.

Thanks for the tech info. I'd really like to hear how noticable the difference is on the Silverado, especially for towing. I went from 31's to 32's on my CJ7, and can really feel the difference. My next task is to regear it.
