Hey guys,
First time in the Ford section.

I just got a D60 out of a '93 F350 and want to put it under my '97 F250. It looks pretty straight forward. I have access to the donor truck and all front end parts. Looks like I will need to trim up the x-member that the diff is attached to and get some more arch on the front springs. This is in a pwr strk in case that makes a difference.

Basically just wondering if I could get some tips from someone who has done it and knows what to look for. I've got cutters and a welder but it doesn't appear that I would need to weld anything up.

Bolt in. All you need to do is remove the TTB mounts, I think 4 or two bolts each. Attach the track bar bracket, three bolts. and your in. You may want to get the springs as well. They will be flat, instead of the negitive arch. Then if your rear springs are still good the truck should set close to level. If you like the rear to set up a little higher, I would swap the 2" block for the 4" block form the same 350. Also all your brakes will be the same, same with the rotors/hubs. That is if you have the D50.

Thanks for the info!

Yeah, it's a TTB D50.

Haven't actually done it myself but I've heard the cross member could interfere with the axle.

Is there enough clearance or does the cross member need to be "modified"?

I've done it on two F250's and neither of them needed the x-member trimmed.

Usually when people need to trim the x-memeber it's because there using an earlier model axle where the diff is not offset as much towards the drivers side. Like when people use 78/79 D44's (or D60's) for SAS's into TTB trucks.

The F-250 and 350 have the same frame. If you look at a 350 you will see there are holes in the crossmember where the TTB mounts would bolt.

I am thinking about doing the same thing, but I asked my self WHY. I replied I don't know, but i think it is cool!

Here ya go:

If you're gonna 'wheel it you could flip the u-bolts, too, but then you'll have to dick w/spring plates:

If the '350 has a front driveshaft with a double-cardin CV joint at the transfer case, swap that too, even if you have to re-build it.
You will need to swap the T-case yoke to do that. The centering bearing on the CV is a PITA to grease, so don't be suprised if it is trashed on your doner.

The '97 '250s have plain U-joints on the front shaft, that just barely work OK (sometimes not) at stock ride hight. The '350s got the CV joint at the T-case end. Without the CV joint, you will probably have pretty good vibration at speed.

Not sure if the Engine/transmission were set at a different angle in the 350s or not....possibly so due to taller lift blocks on rear. check with dealer and see if the transmission mounts are the same pn. If not, you might need '97 '350 mount to prevent rear driveline vibration if you use the '350 lift blocks.
