: Fordyce water levels

So I know this should be an easy one for some of you old timers but what water level is typically crossable for running Fordyce. I've read that early morning is lower than evenings and that 500cfs is hydrolocking suicide but how much is typically an easy crossing for a truck with a 4 in lift and 35's.

Heres the link to the flow rates... If I remember right I think someone said 300 is pushing it.

300 is doable, but you'll get your feet wet. 250 is about the max without getting your feet wet in a rig with 35's. 500 is crazy, and with snowmelt not being included in the rate quoted at Dreamflows, if they are releasing that much from the lake, count on upwards of 650 by the afternoon. Ask Keith Strong about 650. LOL

Thanks,

Do you know how much the flow rate varies over the course of a typical day?

the flow doesn't vary much if at all during different times of the day. 300 is about the cutoff for most normal people, but even then it is DEEP & moving.

If you are thinking about this weekend I would say forget it. With the amount coming out of the reservoir + snow runoff its gonna be moving. Plus the trail is still VERY wet. Guy in our club tried hiking into the first crossing last weekend and got lost. Couldn't follow the trail under all the snow

The creek will probably be moving all through June & Early July. Normally the levels start to drop in later July (depending on snow melt, reservoir level, etc.)
